The roll forming machine P3 at the IBF is used to put new innovative rolling methods to the test and to apply them in a laboratory scale. One example is strip profile rolling, a process resulting in a material flow transversal to rolling direction, enabling the creation of a thickness profile transversal to the rolling direction. Another application is the imprinting of channel like surface structures into steel sheets an strip.
